Propagation
Sow fresh seed during autumn and in cold climates place in a cold frame.
Division of the clump (rhizome) during spring.
Soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during the growing period.
Botanic information
Leaf: The basal leaves are oblong to lanceolate or obovate with an abruptly acuminate apex. The sessile stem leaves are ovate with an acuminate apex and are rounded at the base.
Flower: The cratiform flowers have 4-spreading petals with exserted stamens in the throat, green sepals and slender pedestal. They are arranged in an open raceme that is held high above the foliage during spring.
Fruit: The long and narrow small siliqua (capsule) has flat valves at the base and contains seeds that may be winged. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
