Propagation
Sow fresh seed when ripe in containers and place in a cold frame or sow in a prepared bed. Seeds may require some stratification.

Note:
The roots on this tree are shallow and spreading and require ample room around pathways or driveways otherwise damage may result.


Botanic information
Leaf: The flattened linear leaves are forward pointing and curved outwards. They have 2-stomatic bands on the underside and are arrange around the branchlets that are up to 2.5m (8ft) long.

Flower: The dark pink female strobili is up to 25mm (1in) long are upright at first then bends down becoming pendent and the reddish rounded male pollen conesappear towards the shoot tips and are up to 15mm (?in) long. They appear during mid-spring.

Fruit: The young female cones are purplish and mature to red-brown up to 38mm (1½in) wide. They are covered in round scales that have an entire margin and each scale contains 2-winged blackish seeds that are up to 3mm (?in) long. The cones fall from the tree in one piece.
