Propagation
Sow fresh seed during autumn in a prepared bed.
Stratify fresh seeds for 2 months during winter and sow in pots, then place in a cold frame to germinate.
Soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during early summer.

General pruning information
Little pruning is normally required apart from crown lifting or thinning. All branches should be cut back to the collar and avoid pruning deciduous species during spring as this encourages bleeding.

Botanic information
Leaf: The leathery textured dark green obovate leaves have an obtuse apex and turn brown during autumn before falling.

Flower: The fragrant cyathiform flowers have 12-15 tepals that are pale pink to dark pink and appear upright on the branchlets before the leaves during spring.

Fruit: The follicle is composed aggregated carpels and has a cone-like appearance ripening during summer and containing red coloured seeds. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
