Propagation
Stratify seeds for 1 to 2 months in a moist media and maintain a temperature of -1.2º C (30°F). Then and sow seeds in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate.


Botanic information
Leaf: The small bluish green linear leaves are triangular in cross-section with a sharply pointed acuminate apex and are keeled beneath. Clusters of 14 to 30 leaves are arranged on short spur branch and during autumn they turn yellow before falling. The chestnut brown globose buds are up to 3mm (? in)in diameter.

Flower: The tree is monoecious with oblong reddish female strobili that are sub-sessile and the short male strobili are green at the base and yellow when shedding pollen. They appear numerously along the branchlets during early spring.

Fruit: The small short stalked cone has broad red-brown scales that may be toothed at the reflexed apex. The seed is up to 7 mm (¥ in) long with thin wings up to 12 mm (½ in) long.
