Propagation
Collect and clean fresh seed then sow in a well drained moist media, stratify for 2 to 3 months and germination takes up to 12 months.

Semi hardwood cuttings taken in summer and placed in a well drained media on the misting bench and roots appear within 8-weeks.

Plants may be grafted or layered.
Difficult to transplant as it has very fine roots.


Botanic information
Leaf: The glabrous leaves are elliptical to oblanceolate and up to 20mm (µin) wide. The apex is acute and the petiole is short with a cuneate base. The upper surface is pale green and the underside is grey-green.

Flower: The lilac-purple or white tubulate flowers have a cylindrical calyx and 4-spreading, pointed lobes. There are 2-4 flowers arranged in a fascicle appearing on the previous season`s growth during early spring.

Fruit: The spherical drupe-like fruit is fleshy and produces viable seeds that are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
All parts of this plant are poisonous containing mezerine and if ingested it will cause stomach upset.
