Propagation
Sow fresh seed when ripe or during early spring and place in a cool greenhouse. The seeds germinate easily.
Semi hardwood cuttings taken during summer and placed in warm protected humid environment and mist. Over watering courses rot. The cuttings root up easily, under ideal conditions.
Botanic information
Leaf: The variable glossy dark green leaves are obovate-lanceolate or elliptical-lanceolate and are up to 40 mm (1? in) wide with an acute apex and base. The pale green petiole is 15 mm (? in)long and the texture is a leathery.
Flower: The tiny tubulate flowers have 5-ovate sepals and 5-oblong spreading white petals. They are arranged in a dense terminal, brown pubescent panicle that appears from late spring to early summer.
Fruit: The globose capsule has 2-woody valves and contains 5-6 orange-red angular seeds that are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively. The seeds are dispersed by birds and water.
