Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 18º to 21º C. (64º to 75º F).
Semi hardwood cuttings taken during summer and apply bottom heat.
Botanic information
Leaf: The pinnate leaves appear in pairs alternately along the stems. The leaves have 8 to 12 pairs of oblong-lanceolate short stalked leaflets with an acute apex. The new growth bronze-coloured at first then becoming dark green.
Flower: The cyathiform flowers have small petals with numerous stamens that are up to 40mm (1?in)long and are white at the base and rose-pink towards the end.
They are arranged in a spherical axillary umbel that is up to 50mm (2in)wide and appear from late spring to early summer. The flowering period can vary in tropical regions and the flowers may appear throughout the year.
Fruit: The flattened pod has thickened margins and contains numerous hard seeds that are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
