Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º to 64ºF) for 24 hours. Seeds may require scarification.

This plant is not commonly cultivated outside its native region and may be difficult to obtain requiring a specialist nursery.


Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green leaves are obovate to oblanceolate with a long acuminate apex and a cuneate base. The petiole has a prominent apical joint and is up to 50mm (2in) long. It has pinnate venation and the new growth is bronze-pink and slightly pubescent.

Flower: The pendulous cream-coloured campanulate (bell-shaped) bisexual flowers have 4-5 sepals and petals that are fringed. They are arranged in a small cluster-like terminal raceme that appears during late spring.

Fruit: The ovoid greenish-blue stalked drupe has an acidic fleshy outer layer and a deeply pitted hard centre that contains 1-seed.
