Propagation
Plant fresh seeds in a deep container to 150mm (6in) deep during spring, keep moist and maintain a temperature of 19º to 27ºC. (66º to 81ºF). Sporadic germination may take up to 2 months and, do not allow the seed to dry out before sowing.
Botanic information
Leaf: The pinnate fronds have many leathery linear leaflets up to 600mm (24in) long with a lobed apex and appear on a single plane along the rachis. The arching rachis is twisted and the petiole is up to the 2m (6ft) long and the crownshaft bulges at the top.
Flower: The pendant branched inflorescence appears below the crownshaft and both the small yellowish cyathiform male and female flowers are present. They appear from late spring to early summer.
Fruit: The red-purple to black globular drupe is arranged in a pendant cluster and the small seed is very viable.
