Propagation
Surface sow fresh seed during spring in a well-drained media, and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F). Prick out and pot up when they are large enough to handle.

Stem cuttings of non-flowering shoots during the growing period.


Botanic information
Leaf: The velvet textured deep green ovate leaves are up to 300mm (12in) wide have a cordate base and the reticulated venation is clear (crystalline). The base is cordate with semicircular lobes and the fleshy cylindrical petiole is up to 450mm (18in) long.

Flower: The tiny bisexual flowers are arranged in a slender spadix that is up to 204mm (8in) long tapering towards the apex and is held above the foliage on a peduncle, up to 600mm (2ft) long.

The narrow reflexed spathe is up to 127mm (5in) long and has recurved margins. The tiny flowers have 4-tepals and a 2-celled ovary with 1 to 2 ovules.
The flowering period is during spring but can vary in tropical regions and they may appear throughout the year.

Fruit: The small white berry in tinged with purple and the small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
