Propagation
Plant fresh seeds in a deep container to 150mm (6in) deep during spring, keep moist and maintain a temperature of 19º to 27ºC. (66º to 81ºF).
Sporadic germination may take up to 6 months and, do not allow the seed to dry out before sowing.
Botanic information
Leaf: The mid green costapalmate fronds are divided into narrow-lanceolate segments that reach half way to centre with pointed drooping apexes. The underside is covered in dense white tomentose and the slender blackish petiole is up to 1m (3ft) long radiating out from the base.
Flower: The male cyathiform flowers are arranged on a 300mm (1ft) long branched inflorescence and the female flowers appear on a less branched cluster in the leaf base. They appear during late spring.
Fruit: The rounded drupe is yellow-orange when ripe and produces viable seed.
