Botanic information
Leaf: The oblong to linear sessile leaves are up to 50mm (2in) wide with a long acuminate apex and the base clasps the stem. Bulbils may be formed in the leaf axils.
Flower: The fragrant tubulate flowers are arranged in a dense terminal spike that is up to 150mm (6in) long. The flowers are associated with bracts and has a tubular calyx and a slender tubular corolla are up to 38mm (1½in) long with the lobes reflexed and the stamens are exserted. They appear during summer.
Fruit: The capsule contains small seeds that are not commonly used and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively to maintain true to type.
