Botanic information
Leaf: The broad lanceolate leaves have an acuminate apex and the base is a tubular closed sheath. The margins are undulating and the leaf tends to fold upwards.

Flower: The small tubulate white flowers have 3-tubular calyx lobes that are longer than the 3-corolla lobes which have a yellow lip. They are arranged in a cone-like terminal spike that is densely packed with pinkish imbricate bracts and is held above the foliage on a leafy scape during summer.

Fruit: The capsule contains small seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
