Propagation
Sow seed when ripe in pots and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F), apply bottom heat. Germination take 1 to 2 years.
Culture
As a container plant keep the soil moist but not wet and regularly mist the leaves especially during dry periods or if it is placed in an air-conditioned environment.
Botanic information
Leaf: The glossy dark green pinnate fronds have numerous glossy leathery lanceolate curved leaflets that are arranged along the upper edge of the flattened rachis.
Flower: The male and female cones appear on separate plants. The green-brown male cone has sporophylls with many small pollen sacks on the under surface releasing vast quantities of pollen and split spirally when mature. The 600mm (2ft) long female cone is ovoid and appears from late spring to early summer.
Fruit: The large ovoid female cones produce orange-yellow large seeds.
