Botanic information
Leaf: The variegated green leaves are oblong to oblanceolate up to 150mm (6in) wide with a cuspidate to cuneate base and an acuminate apex. The upper surface has lateral venation and the sheaved petiole is up to 255mm (10in) long, ragged along the margins.
Flower: The tiny flowers are densely packed into a fleshy stout spadix same length as the spathe that is up to 65mm (2½in) long. They appear during spring but may appear sporadically in tropical regions throughout the year.
Fruit: The ellipsoidal bright red berry contains a single seed and is arranged in clusters. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
