Propagation
Sow fresh seed from autumn to spring in pots and in cold climates place in a cold frame.

Semi-hardwood tip cuttings taken during summer apply bottom heat.
Air layering during the growing period.

Note:
This plant dislikes wet soil and requires a very well drained media.

Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves have 4-stages from seedling, juvenile to adult. The deflexed juvenile leaves are up to 450mm (18in) long by 25mm (1in) wide with a dentate margin and reddish mid rib. The smaller linear adult leaves are up to 150mm (6in) long by 20mm (µin) wide.

Flower: The male and female stellate flowers have 5-petals sometimes 4 with as many stamens and have 4-5 separate styles with an ovary with 4-5 cells. They are arranged in terminal umbel-like panicle that is up to 100mm (4in) wide and is rarely seen. The flowers are arranged in a panicle on different plants (dioecious) and appear during midsummer.

Fruit: The female plants produce ovoid blackish fruit with 4 to 5 pyrenes. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
