Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate in cool climates.

Division of the clump during spring.


Botanic information
Leaf: The variable dark green leaves are ovate-lanceolate to oblong or lanceolate and are covered in stiff hairs. They are is basal or arranged along the stems.

Flower: The blue funnelform flowers have a tubular calyx with 5-lobes and the corolla has 5-spreading petals that are united at the base with 5-short white stamens. They are arranged in a branched terminal panicle that forms tiers and appears during late spring.

Fruit: The small fruit contains 4-erect rough nutlets with each nutlet having a basil annular rim. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
