Propagation
Surface sow fresh seed during spring in a well-drained media, and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F). Prick out and pot up when they are large enough to handle.
Cuttings of non-flowering shoots during late spring to early summer.

In cool climates the plant is deciduous and the tubers should be kept dry during winte
Botanic information
Leaf: The fleshy leaves are up to 100mm (4in) wide, densely covered in silver-white hairs and the apex is acute to acuminate. The leaves are almost sessile and arranged in opposite pairs that are whorled around the stem.
Flower: The short lived red tubulate flowers have a long tube that is covered in fine hairs and opens with 5-short rounded expanded lobes. The hairy calyx has 5-pointed lobes and the pedicle is up to 25mm (1in) long. The flowers are arranged in a terminal or axillary cluster and appear during summer.
Fruit: The small dehiscent capsule has 2 to 4 valves and contains numerous seeds that are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.The flowering and fruiting period may vary in tropical regions.
