Propagation
Surface sow fresh seeds when ripe (autumn) in a well-drained media, and maintain a temperature of 19º to 24º C. (66º to 77º F). Germination takes from 1 to 3 months. Prick out and pot up when they are large enough to handle and plant out after all risk of frost.

Botanic information
Leaf: The long linear flattened leaves have a prominent mid rib and taper to a long acuminate apex. The leaf is upright then arching and the colour varies from green to golden-yellow to reddish appearing all at the same time.
Flower: The upright terminal reddish panicle has a fluffy appearance and is held above the foliage in a slender scape to 1.5m (5ft) tall, appearing during late summer.
Fruit: The tiny hard cylindrical caryopsis (seeds) are viable but the plant can be reproduced vegetatively.
