Propagation
Sow fresh seed when ripe in containers and place in a cold frame or sow in a prepared bed. Seeds may require some stratification. Cuttings taken from 4-year old trees during summer.

Note:
Care should be taken when selecting a sight as the tree has vigorous shallow and spreadingroots that can lift concrete and block drains.


Botanic information
Leaf: The flattened linear leaves are keeled on both sides and has 2-6 stomatic bands on the underside. The apex is obtuse and the leaves are overlapping and pointing forwards. They are arranged towards the end of the branchlets.

Flower: The female strobili to 20mm (µin) long are upright at first then bends down becoming pendent and the reddish strawberry-shaped male pollen conesappear towards the shoot tips during early summer and are up to 12mm (½in) long.

Fruit: The oblong cone is up to 20mm (µin) wide with broad rounded scales thatcontain 2-dark brown seedswith a pale brown oblique wing. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
