Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate in cool climates.
Semi-hardwood tip cuttings taken during summer apply bottom heat.
Botanic information
Leaf: The leathery oblong to obovate-oblong leaves are up to 25mm (1in) wide with an obtuse apex and a petiole up to 8mm (?in) long. The glabrous upper surface is yellow-green to light green with speckles in red and the underside is pale green.
Flower: The tiny unisexual white to yellow cyathiform flowers have a calyx with 4-lobes and the corolla with 4-free lobes on a short pedicle. The male has 4-stamens and the male and female flowers are arranged in an axillary umbellate cluster on separate plants (dioecious) during late spring.
Fruit: The 1-seeded globose drupe is dark brown to black when mature. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
