Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 12º to 15º C. (55º to 59º F).


Botanic information
Leaf: The thin leathery juvenile leaves are linear, up to 300mm (1ft) long and the shorter stiff-leathery adult leaves are narrow oblong to linear-oblong to 40mm (1?in) wide.

The margin is undulating with blunt serrations and the apex is obtuse to acute. The petiole is up to 10mm (?in) long and the leaves are arranged alternately or in clusters.

Flower: The oxblood red tubulate flowers have coiled segments with an exserted style that is green tipped and the pedicle is covered in red-brown tomentose.

They are arranged in a dense sessile raceme that is up to 100mm (4in) long and the flowers normally appear hight in the tree during late spring and are not easily seen.

Fruit: The pubescent leathery follicle tapers to a persistent style and splits into 2-boat shaped valves. It contains thin papery seeds that are winged at the apex up to 15mm (? in) long.
