Propagation
Surface sow fresh seed during spring in a well-drained media, and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F). Prick out and pot up when they are large enough to handle.

Cuttings of non-flowering shoots during late spring to early summer.


Botanic information
Leaf: The glabrous bright green leaves are broad elliptical to obovate up to 100mm (4in) wide with a petiole that is up to 50mm (2in) long. The apex is acute, the base is cuneate and the margin is slightly crenulate.

Flower: The small male flowers are cyathiform and the female are tubulate and both have 4 to 5 lobes with exserted stamens. They appear on different plants (dioecious) and are normally arranged in an axillary cluster on 3-forked peduncles and appear during spring.

Fruit: The large bright orange to red oblong drupes appear in clusters. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
