Botanic information
Leaf: The mid green leathery leaves are linear to spathulate or narrow-obovate up to 3mm (?in) wide and have a petiole up to 3mm (?in) long. The apex is obtuse and the leaves are arranged alternately in small clusters on short branchlets.
Flower: The tiny unisexual campanulate flowers have a bell-shaped calyx with triangular teeth and the petals are oblong and pointed. The staminal column is exserted with up to 12-sessile anthers. They appear solitary or arranged in a small cyme in the leaf axils during spring.
Fruit: The globose capsule is covered in stellate pubescence and opens irregularly. It contains a single seed that is viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
