Propagation
Surface sow fresh seed during spring in a well-drained media, and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F). Prick out and pot up when they are large enough to handle.

Cuttings of non-flowering shoots during late spring to early summer.


Botanic information
Leaf: The small glabrous leaves are broad-ovate to almost orbicular with and obtuse apex and the petiole is very short. The texture is leathery and the margins are thickened. The new growth is pubescent.

Flower: The small male and female campanulate flowers have 4 to 5 lobes and have exserted stamens. They appear on different plants (dioecious) and are normally arranged in an axillary cluster or are solitary and appear during spring.

Fruit: The deep red to black berry-like drupe is pendant on the female plant. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
