Propagation
Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during late spring and semi hardwood cuttings during late summer.
Botanic information
Leaf: The small dark green elliptical to obovate leaves have an obtuse apex and are densely pubescent on both surfaces.
Flower: The profuse small 2-lipped tubulate flowers are arranged in a terminal cluster that is up to 12mm (½ in) wide and the colour varies from purple to rose-red. They appear in the leaf axils amongst the foliage from late spring to early summer and attract bees.
Fruit: The small nut produces numerous tiny seeds that are very viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
