Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate in cool climates.
Division of the clump during spring to early summer.


Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are ovate to lanceolate with a petiole that clasps the stem up to 50mm (2in) long. The margin is coarsely serrated with pointed teeth and the apex is acuminate. The grey green upper surface is glabrous and the underside is pubescent along the veins.

Flower: The flower heads have 12 to 24 tiny bisexual tubulate flowers. They are arranged in a terminal corymb that is up to 60mm (2?in) wide and appear during midsummer.

Fruit: The 5-angled achene has pappus in a single row. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
