Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring in pots and in cold climates place in a cold frame to germinate.

Semi-hardwood tip cuttings taken during summer apply bottom heat.


Botanic information
Leaf: The leathery leaves are elliptical to obovate with a petiole up to 40mm (1?in) longwith a cuneate base and the margins have larger serrations towards the acuminate apex. The leaves are arranged in whorls to alternately towards the end of the branches.

Flower: The small bisexual or unisexual apetalous flowers have no perianth segments and contain up to 40-70 stamens that are spirally inserted on the top side of the disk. The flowers are arranged in an erect terminal raceme on long pedicel and appear during late spring.

Fruit: The connate follicles are up to 12mm (½ in) wide and are arranged in clustered ring. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
