Botanic information
Leaf: The bright green leaves are obovate to elliptical-lanceolate and are covered in fine white pubescence. The apex is acute and the flattish petiole is short. It has deeply serrated margins and the underside is pale green.
Flower: The 2-lipped tubulate flowers have 5-pointed calyx lobes and the corolla has a purplish pointed upper lobe. The lower has 3-lobes with a white centre that is spotted in purple, yellow or white. They are arranged on a pubescent scape that is held above the foliage and appears from late spring to early summer.
Fruit: The tiny 2-locular capsule fruit contains many small seeds that are very viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
