Botanic information
Leaf: The sessile leaves are lanceolate to oblong with an acute apex. The soft textured leaves are pubescent on the underside and they are arranged in opposite pairs towards the end of the stems.
Flower: The salverform flowers have 5-spreading petals that are notched at the apex and are pink suffused with white. They are arranged in a terminal cyme that is held above the foliage on a slender scape and appear during late spring. The flower colour can vary from purple to pink and is rarely lavender or white.
Fruit: The small 3-valved capsule contains the numerous seeds that are viable but the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
