Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F).
Cuttings of cultivars from non-flowering shoots during late spring to early summer.
Botanic information
Leaf: The variable leaves are obovate to oblanceolate or elliptical-oblong up to 15mm (?in) wide. The upper surface is dark glossy green and the underside is covered in white tomentose which extends to the branchlets. The apex is acute to obtuse, the petiole is flat and the margins may be recurved.
Flower: The stellate flowers have narrow triangular calyx segments that are up to 2mmlong and the narrow-oblong petals are to 7mm (¥ in) long. Theyare arranged in a terminal or axillary panicle with up to 6-blooms or are solitary and appear during spring.
Fruit: The oblong drupe can be red, yellow or orange. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively to maintain true to type.
