Botanic information
Leaf: The flat dark green long-linear leaves are densely arranged in basal tufts and the texture may be stiff or flexible, upright to arching with a long acuminate apex. During winter the leaves may turn orange-brown.
Flower: The small crateriform flowers are iris-like with 3-petals and 3-sepals. They are arranged in a dense umbel-like panicle with up to 10-blooms on a short scape that may be hidden amongst the foliage from late spring to early summer.
Fruit: The bright yellow capsules persist for several months before opening to release the seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
