Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring in pots and plant half the seed in the soil with the point down. Keep moist and warm.


Botanic information
Leaf: The closely overlapping sessile leaves are ovate-lanceolate to triangular up to 25mm (1in) wide and slightly concave with a stiff leathery texture. The apex is acute with a sharp point and the leaves persist on the tree for up to 10 years and are pungent when crushed.

Flower: The erect cylindrical male cones are up to 127mm (5in) long by 50mm (2in) wide and the ovoid female cone is up to 150mm (6in) tall. They appear on different trees (dioecious) during spring.

Fruit: The woody cones mature over a 2 to 3 year period and each scale contains a single winged seed. The seeds are editable and the flowering and fruiting period may vary in tropical regions.
