Propagation
Sow fresh seed during autumn or spring. Seeds may take up to two years to germinate.

Division of the clump during spring (slow to recover).


Botanic information
Leaf: The trifoliate leaves are composed of 3-obovate leaflets that are deeply lobed at the apex. The grey green upper surface is glabrous and the petiole is long and slender.

Flower: The nodding campanulate flowers have lanceolate ovate spreading sepals up to 25mm (1in) long and the petals are up to 12mm (½in) long. The 25mm (1in) long spurs are strongly hooked and 5-15 flowers are arranged in a terminal leafy raceme held above foliage on a slender reddish scape. They appear from late spring to early summer.

Fruit: The small berry-like follicle contains the numerous seeds that are viable but the plant may be propagated vegetatively.
