Propagation
Separate seeds from pulp by soaking in water then stratify for 2 to 3 months during winter. Sow seeds in pots or flats then place them in cool position to germination which may take up to two years.
Young plants are easily transplanted during winter.


Botanic information
Leaf: The glossy mid green broad ovate to obovate leaves have 3 to 5 shallow lobes that have an obtuse to acute apex. The petiole is up to 20mm (µin) long.

Flower: The shallow cyathiform bisexual flowers have 5 petals with 20 exserted stamens and have 2 to 3 styles. They are arranged in a dense axillary corymb that appears during early summer. The unpleasant odour of the flowers is due to trimethylamine.

Fruit: The scarlet coloured fleshy drupe contains hard nutlets and has an apple-like appearance.
