Propagation
Stratify seeds for 2 to 3 months during winter and sow seeds in pots then place them in an cold frame.

Soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during late spring to early summer.
Tolerates transplanting when young.


Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are elliptical to obovate up to 76mm (3in) wide with a coarsely serrated margin and an acute apex. The glabrous upper surface is glossy green with impressed veins and pale green underside has stellate pubescence mainly on the veins. The petiole is up to 20mm (µin) long and when crushed the leaf has an unpleasant smell.

Note
The large grey-green 4-sided angular buds are valvate and slightly pubescent.

Flower: The tiny white flowers are rotate to campanulate and arranged in a flattened terminal cymose- panicle that is up to 100mm (4in) wide held above the foliage on a long peduncle. The flowers are produced profusely during early summer and covering the plant.

Fruit: The ovoid berry-like drupe is pink to reddish and maturing to blue-black. They are arranged in bright red inflorescence that persists on the plant after the fruit has fallen. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
