Botanic information
Leaf: The mid green leaves are oval to ovate-oblong with a short acuminate apex and a very short petiole. The margins are sharply serrated and the upper surface is wrinkled (rugose) with the underside covered in stellate-pubescence.

Flower: The stellate flowers have 5-sepals and petals with 10-stamens that have flattened filaments. The ovary is inferior with 3-4 long styles. The flowers are arranged in a corymb-like cyme to 80mm (3? in) wide on purple pedicles and are produced prolifically over the plant from late spring to early summer.

Fruit: The small capsule is dehiscent and contains many small seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively to maintain true to type.
