Botanic information
Leaf: The tiny scale leaves are rounded or keeled on the back and the apex is acute. They are grey-green to blue-green and have no white marking on the underside. They are closely appressed and overlapping along the flattened pendant branchlets. When rubbed the branchlets have a rough texture and smell foul when crushed.

Flower: The male cone is yellowish shedding pollen during spring. The globose female cone has 4 to 6 scales each with a raised triangular curved point and open at the same time as the pollen from the male is dispersed. They are found in the upper parts of the monoecious tree during spring.

Fruit: The female cone is green tinged with purple maturing to brown in the second year. Each of the 2 to 6 woody scales contain 2 to 5 winged seeds that are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively
