Propagation
Take stem cuttings from spring to summer. Allow the cuttings to dry and form a callus before planting into a very well-drained gritty media.
Division of the clump during spring.
Note:
Care should be taken when selecting a site as all Euphorbia's contain white sap that causes skin and eye irritation. Be certain to wash your hands with soap and water after handling plant material.
Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green slightly succulent oblanceolate to spathulate leaves are up to 40 mm (1? in) long and have an obtuse apex. The downward facing pungent conical spines are arranged in pairs along the undulating margins and are up to 7 mm (¥ in) long.
Flower: The male and female flowers are arranged in a cup-shaped involucre-like organ (cyathia) that has small yellow bracts. The male flower has exserted stamens and the female consists of a 3-celled pistil. The flowers are arranged in a cyme that appears towards the apex of the stem from spring to early summer.
Fruit: The 3-valve brown oval capsule is an explosive schizocarp that is 12 mm (½ in) long by 15 mm (? in) wide and contains the numerous brown seeds that are up to 3 mm (? in) long and wide and are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively to maintain true to type.
