Botanic information
Leaf: The trifoliate leaves have three oval-elliptical leaflets with an acute apex. The petiole is up to 20mm (µin) long and the leaflet surface is dull green with pinate vienation.
Flower: The purplish papillionate flowers have long pointed calyx lobes and are arranged in an axillary raceme towards the end of the branches. They appear from late summer to early autumn.
Fruit: The flat legume is indehiscent and contains a single seed that is viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
