Propagation
Sow fresh seed in spring in a prepared bed or place in an open frame to germinate.
Botanic information
Leaf: The glabrous leaves are broad ovate to oblong, glossy above with pinnate venation and dull green below. The margin may be undulating and the petiole is short.
Flower: The flowers are unisexual. The male flowers are arranged in a cluster at the base of the twigs and the small solitary female flowers appear in the leaf axils with the new growth during early spring.
Fruit: The ovoid drupe is solitary in the leaf axils and is yellowish, maturing to dark orange. It is sweet and edible, often dispersed by birds. The fruit persists on the tree for several weeks.
