Propagation
Sow fresh seed when ripe in containers and place in a cold frame or sow in a prepared bed. Seeds may require some stratification.
Note:
The roots on this tree are shallow and spreading and require ample room around pathways or driveways otherwise damage may result.
Botanic information
Leaf: The leathery textured linear leaves are quadrangular in shape with an acute apex and stomatic bands on each surface. They are arranged spirally and pointing forward along the slender glabrous yellowish to reddish-brown branchlets.
Flower: The monoecious flowers are pollinated by wind. The cylindrical pale brown staminate (male) pollen cones are upright and the pendant terminal greenish woody pistillate (female) cones are upright appearing singularly or in groups of 2-3 on the previous year's growth during early summer.
Fruit: The pendant oblong to cylindrical woody cones consists of thin obovate seed scales with entire margins up to 12 mm (½ in)long and wide. They contain 2-grey brown obovate winged seeds that are up to 8 mm (? in) long by 4 mm (? in) wide.
