Propagation
Sow fresh seed in spring in a prepared bed or place in an open frame to germinate.
Botanic information
Leaf: The lanceolate leves are up to 12mm (½in) wide with a semi-glossy green upper surface with a prominent mid rib and the underside is light green with 2-glaucous stomatic bands.
Flower: The axillary male catkin-like cones are yellow and the axillary green female is cone-like with one or a few ovuliferous scales. They appear on different trees (dioecious) during spring.
Fruit: The reddish-purple cone appears on female trees during autumn.
