Propagation
Sow fresh seeds which require 5-months warm temperature followed by 3-months cold.

Soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during the growing period.

Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green leaves are ovate to elliptical with curved pinnate venation (5 to 7 pairs) and an acuminate apex. The underside has rusty coloured down in the vein axils and the petiole is short

Flower: The tiny yellow flowers have 4-calyx lobes and exserted stamens and are arranged in a loose umbel up to 20mm (µin) wide. The flowers appear before the leaves in late winter.

Fruit: The small oblong drupe has 2-cells and contains 2-seeds and is bright red. The small seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.


Culture
Dogwoods prefer a slightly acidic soils and protection from strong drying winds with the roots kept moist and cool. Generally Dogwoods require little pruning and the tree species may have the crown lifted revealing the trunk.
