Propagation
Collect and remove pulp from the seeds then wash. Seeds (nutlets) that float should be discarded and when sowing place in well drained media and maintain a temperature of 18º to 21º C. (64º to 75º F). Certain seeds germinate quickly while others take up to 18 months.


Botanic information
Leaf: The leathery textured glabrous leaves are elliptical to obovate and is pale on the underside and are up to 45mm (1µin) wide. The apex is acute and the reddish petiole is up to 25mm (1in) long. The leaves only appear on the current season`s growth.

Flower: The small cyathiform flowers have 4 to 6 petals with as many stamens and 4 to 6 flowers are arranged in an axillary umbellate cyme that apperson the previous year's growth in late winter.

The male and female plants must be grown together in order to produce fruit (dioecious). The flowers are regarded as insignificant as an ornamental feature.

Fruit: The globose berry-like drupe contains 5 to 7 nutlets and has a pedicle up to 7mm (¥in) long. They are arranged in a reddish umbel that tends to be pendant.
