Propagation
Sow fresh seed during autumn in pots and place outdoors or in a cold frame.
Division of rooted suckers when dormant.

Note:
Care should be taken when selecting a sight allowing ample room for it to grow as it has vigorous roots that can lift concrete and block drains.


Botanic information
Leaf: The pinnate leaves have up to 27-glabrous oblong to ovate leaflets that are up to 127mm (5in) long and have an acute to obtuse apex. The underside is pale green with prominent veins and they arranged alternately along the terete midrib. During autumn the leaves turn yellow before falling.

Flower: The tree is monoecious and the green male catkins are up to 127mm (5in) long. The catkin-like female flowers are up to 500mm (20in) long appearing soon after the male flowers during spring.

Fruit: The rounded nuts are winged and arranged in a pendant spike that is up to 500mm (20in) long. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
