Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 19º to 27º C. (66º to 81º F).
Divide the suckers during spring.
Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green long lanceolate leaves are up to 50mm (2 in) wide with an acuminate apex that has a small spine. The entire margins are thread-bearing and the leaf base clasps the stem. They are arranged in a terminal rosette and are upright at first then droop.
Flower: The creamy-white purple tinged waxy campanulate flowers have a long pedicle and are arranged in a large terminal panicle that is up to 600mm (2 ft) long and is held just above the foliage on as scape up to 1.2m (4ft) tall. The flowers have 6-perianth segments are distinct or slightly united. They open at night with a pleasant fragrance during midsummer.
Note:
The flowers may not appear every year.
Fruit: The oblong pointed fleshy capsule contains numerious dark seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
