Sow fresh seed during spring, in containers.
Semi-hardwood cuttings taken during summer and placed in a protected humid environment until rooting occurs.
Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are oblong to ovate or elliptical with an acute apex and a slender reddish petiole up to 20 mm (µ in) long. During the cooler months the leaves take on a bronze tone.
Flower: The stellate flowers have 5-green sepals and 5-spreading obovate petals with 10-stamens. The pedestal is long and has 2-bracteoles towards the middle. The flowers are arranged in an open terminal raceme. The flowering period is during early sspring but may extend throughout the year in tropical regions.
Fruit: The small capsule is 3-locular and contains numerous tiny seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
