Propagation
Soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during late spring and semi hardwood cuttings taken during late summer. Apply bottom heat and maintain a warm humid environment.


Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are ovate-elliptical to oblong than acuminate apex and a short yellowish petiole. The upper surface is dark green with yellow-white mid and main veins.

Flower: The tubulate flowers have a long corolla with exserted stamens up to 25 mm (1in) long. There are up to 10-flowers that open consecutively and are arranged in a terminal spike that is accompanied by red ovate bracts that are up to 50 mm (2 in) wide. The flowering period is during early summer but in tropical climates they may appear throughout the year.

Fruit: The oblong capsule contains 6-8 seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively. The flowering and fruiting period may vary in tropical climates.
