Propagation
Separate seeds from pulp and sown in autumn in a moist medium and maintain a temperature of 5º C (41º F) for 3-months.

Softwood cuttings taken from summer to autumn and place on a misting bench until roots appear with in 6 to 8 weeks. Avoid excessive moisture for both cuttings and seeds.


Botanic information
Leaf: The almost sessile leathery textured leaves are narrow-obovate with marginal spines and the margin is recurved. They are glossy dark greeen and are arranged in groups of 2 to 3 in the stem axils.

Flower: The cyathiform flowers have 6-petal-like sepals and 6-petals with 6-stamens and the ovary contains a single cell. They are 2 to 4 flowers that have slender pedicles up to 25mm (1in) long and are arranged in an umbel-like raceme that appears during early summer.

Fruit: The small oblong-ovoid berry is translucent red appearing in clusters. The seeds are not commonly used and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively to maintain true to type.
